Timothy Short is a Specialist Anaesthetist at Auckland City Hospital and MercyAscot Private Hospital in Auckland, New Zealand. He has special interests in anaesthesia for neurosurgery and clinical outcomes research. During his career he has also worked in Australia and Hong Kong.
He is an Honorary Professor in the Department of Anaesthesia, School of Health Sciences, University of Auckland, a member and past chairman of the executive of the ANZCA Clinical Trials Network. He has an MD in Benzodiazepine Pharmacology, has published over 130 scientific papers, 12 book chapters and taken part in 15 multicentre clinical outcome studies. He currently pursues research interests in neurosurgical anaesthesia and anaesthetic pharmacology and was principal investigator of the Balanced Study, a multicentre outcome study of the influence of anaesthetic depth on patient outcome after major surgery.
He is a national sailing umpire and has keen interests in Natural History, Ornithology and farming.
