Social functions

After a full day of learning, take advantage of the great social events we have to offer! It’s a chance to unwind, relax and catch up with colleagues from around the country. After what has been a tough year, NZ is in a very lucky position to be able to hold a conference and have these social events – so take advantage!

Attending these events is also an opportunity to show our support for the local hospitality industry which has been hit hard this year, with the theme for the Gala Dinner #SupportLocal.

We have contingency plans if the country remains at level 2 that will comply with government rules – so don’t miss out and sign up for the social events when registering.

See our “Wellington Activities” tab for great ideas on what to do in Wellington during your stay here.

Conference Dinner

Saturday 17 October | 7.00pm - midnight
Venue: TSB Bank Arena

It’s Saturday night so it’s time to let your hair down after two full days of learning and networking! The NZ Anaesthesia 2020 Conference Dinner promises to be a showcase of outstanding local products from Zany Zeus cheese to Rangitikei corn fed chicken, not to mention tasty brews from ParrotDog and Garage Project. The theme for the evening is #supportlocal so not only will the food and beverages be showcased but also local band, The Relatives, will belt out the tunes to get your feet tapping. If you’re keen to keep on the d-low, a lounge area will also be set up so you can continue networking while sipping divine local wines or a zingy mocktail. Tickets are $175 per person and partners and guests are very welcome, they can be purchased as part of your conference registration by clicking here. Don’t risk FOMO and be part of the action.

HCI Networking Function

Friday 16 October | 5.00pm - 7.00pm
Venue: Exhibition Hall, TSB Bank Arena

We know that conferences would not be as successful as they are without the support of the Health Care Industry. Join us at the end of day one of the conference to enjoy delicious canapés and drinks while networking with the industry and suppliers who support us each and every day. This is one of your only opportunities this year to learn about new technologies and developments in a relaxed atmosphere with colleagues and friends. All conference registrations include attendance at the HCI Networking Function and additional tickets can be purchased as part of your conference registration for partners or colleagues.

Trainee Function

Thursday 15 October | 5.00pm - 7.00pm

Make the most of this opportunity to join other trainee anaesthetists for some tasty local fare, a few beverages and excellent networking opportunities at the exclusive Trainee’s Function at Bin44, right in the heart of Queens Square near the waterfront. Their philosophy at Bin44 is to provide some of the best food and craft beer Wellington has to offer, as well as showcasing some of the best wines from NZ and you do not have to have attended the Part 3 Course to attend this function.
